UTSA San Pedro II

UTSA San Pedro II is a next-generation academic and innovation facility located in downtown San Antonio, developed to support education, research, workforce development, and emerging technologies. As part of UTSA’s expanding urban campus, the building provides modern learning environments that foster collaboration between students, educators, and industry partners.

NovusSteel provided structural steel detailing services for this 300+ ton project, delivering detailed 3D models, shop drawings, erection drawings, and continuous support throughout fabrication and installation.

The project included a complex self-supporting communication stair, three steel stair towers, and more than 800 stair risers, requiring extensive coordination, advanced stair detailing, and close collaboration with the project team.

Our scope extended beyond detailing. NovusSteel coordinated engineering and connection design for the stair systems, including connection calculations and stamped engineering for the stair assemblies. The self supporting communication stair required full engineering support, with our team working closely with the Engineer of Record and specialty engineers to assist in the design development, structural coordination, and constructability of the system.

Throughout fabrication and construction, our team provided continuous support to the fabricator and field crews. NovusSteel representatives conducted site visits and worked directly with the client, engineers, fabricator, and installation teams to review field conditions, resolve challenges, and ensure successful project execution.
